With steaming geothermal valleys, glacial rivers, astonishing rock formations, perennial snow fields, and panoramic vistas, Kerlingarfjöll is an awe-inspiring wilderness encompassing a vast network of trails.
Highland Base inherits and honors the legacy of the pioneering explorers who built the first cabins at Kerlingarfjöll in the 1930s.
The project includes:
- Refurbished legacy hotel with 15 Standard and 5 Standard family rooms
- Highland Base Restaurant
- Six Highland Base Lodges
- Seven A-frame huts with sleeping bag accommodation or made-up beds
- Campsite
- Shared bathrooms and kitchen facilities
- A new hotel with the 22 Deluxe rooms, 4 Premium rooms, and 2 Suites
- Highland Base Baths
